This page is dedicated to paints that are positioned on the color wheel between cyan (green-blue, sometimes called “cool blue”) and violet-blue (sometimes called “warm blue”).
In systems that attempt to categorize colors by temperature, I often see these blues slotted indiscriminately as either cool or warm blues, depending on the perception of the author. I think they are their own thing: blues with neither green nor violet undertones.

My thoughts
Necessary slot? I think you need some blues, preferably a few that are distinct from each other in various ways. Many people go the split primary route and opt for a violet blue and a cyan, leaving out the blues in the middle. Personally, I really like the true blues and find them convenient, especially for blue skies. I don’t know that I would choose one of these as my only blue, but I could easily live with one of these + a dark blue.
Favorites: I love both of these.
