About Triadvent
Today I drew all Holbein:
- Holbein – Isoindolinone Yellow Deep (PY110)
- Holbein – Opera (BV10, PR122)
- Holbein – Indigo (PB15, PBk6, PR122)

Lots of joy in this triad.
Opera Pink is so bright, though of course that fluorescence comes at a cost to its lightfastness. I generally use it when I want that specific super bright prink for florals, so I forget how fun its red/orange mixes also are. (It feels pointless to mix it with dark/muted colors, however, since similar effects could be achieved with more lightfast paints; I could have used almost any pink to get a dark purple with Indigo, for example.)
Indigo’s another one I often overlook because I have mixed feelings about mixed paints, but it’s really fun to use. It is deliciously dark, but still makes chromatic green and blue mixes due to the Phthalo Blue in its mixture. I didn’t get a chance to explore the lovely pine green in this scene.
Isoindolinone Yellow Deep (what a mouthful; I usually just call it by its pigment number, PY110) is a really pretty warm yellow. It’s very similar to Hansa Yellow Deep (PY65) so I often struggle to choose between the two but I could definitely stand to use this one more.
