All about Triadvent!
Today I drew:
- DS Nickel Azo Yellow (PY150)
- DV Burnt Sienna Deep (PR101) – a transparent/non-granulating transparent red oxide
- WN Prussian Blue (PB27)
With the Prussian Blue, a warm transparent yellow (similar to old-school Indian Yellow), and an earth color, this reminded me of Winslow Homer’s palette, so I painted a little Winslow Homer copy as my image.

Reference: “The Blue Boat” by Winslow Homer.
The greens are gorgeous, of course! NAY + Prussian Blue is green heaven. And NAY + BSD makes a Quin Gold hue, so that’s nice.
I wished I had a redder red to paint red details and to mute the blue. Both the yellow and the BSD tended to make the Prussian Blue turn green, so I had no way of making black/gray, warmer blue, or shadows other than green.
